This week’s Zentangle challenge come from another guest blogger, CZT Sandy Hunter. Diva Challenge #229 is to create space on our tiles. I can totally understand the point of this, it’s always so tempting to fill in all of the white spaces with tangles and shading. This was definitely an exercise in self-restraint.
This challenge could be approached in two ways. One would be to create a string for the space that looked like a shape of something. In the tile above I was thinking tomatoes, and so I created a tomato shaped string in the middle. However, once I tangled around the string with a new tangle I’m attempting to learn (called Akoya) it didn’t end up looking like a tomato. Plus, like last week, I had Rain and Mssst dropping all over it. Must be this muggy wet weather influencing my work. I wanted to try again.
I decided to take a different approach today and instead of using a string, I just began to tangle, with thoughts of picnics and rain still in my head. Ugh. I need to go to a drier location I think.
It was so hard to put my pen down and leave that white space in the middle!
Which one do you like better? Which one creates a better sense of space to you?
