It’s Friday night and we just brought Annie back from her sophomore year of college. Wow, that year went fast, at least for me if not for her as she was buried in classes, labs, and exams. I am absolutely positive that the next year will go even more quickly as she completes her junior year and Louisa completes her senior high school year. We know where that’s heading. It’s leading me to a big fat box of tissues as I ruminate about number two’s departure for college. Or maybe it will send me to the drawing board even more often, because there’s nothing like becoming involved with pen and paper to give your mind a break from the inevitable.
This week’s tangling challenge from the Diva, Weekly Challenge #266, is a perfect distraction for a ruminating mind because it gives us what she calls a “high focus” tangle to use. The tangle is called Crux and it comes from Henrike Bratz. I decided to place it in the center of my tile and after playing around with it, I was increasingly reminded of stained glass. I wanted to continue the effect with something that felt somewhat cathedral like and my search took me to Archer by Christianne Gerstner, a tangle which I rarely use. I altered it a little bit from the original, but it created the effect I wanted. While working on this duo tangle tile, I was certainly able to forget the inevitable passage of time, at least for a little bit.
